BERNALILLO COUNTY PRE-PRIMARY CONVENTION
FEBRUARY 1, 2020
KEYNOTE SPEAKER GOVERNOR SUSANA MARTINEZ
Bernalillo County Central Committee Meeting
On Thursday January 30th at 6pm we'll hold a meeting of the Bernalillo County Central Committee for the purpose of adopting the special rules for the 2020 Bernalillo County Republican Pre-Primary Convention on February 1st (as well as other business). This County Central Committee meeting will take place at 1406 Eubank Blvd NE, Albuquerque NM 87112 (the location of our new office). There will be no fee for this meeting, but refreshments will be provided. This is a great opportunity to catch up on your dues payments for 2019 and to pay them for 2020. You must stay current on your dues to be a voting member of the County Central Committee and to maintain your membership on the State Central Committee. This will be the last opportunity to pre-register for the 2020 Bernalillo County Republican Pre-Primary Convention.
Three Ward Caucus Training Sessions for the
2020 Bernalillo County Republican Pre-Primary Convention
We'll be holding three separate training session meetings for Republicans in Bernalillo County who wish to learn about holding a Ward Caucus at the 2020 Bernalillo County Republican Pre-Primary Convention. We recommend that all Ward Officers attend at least one meeting to learn how to run your Ward Caucus. While it isn't a mandatory meeting, it's your responsibility to help ensure that each Ward in the County has at least some leadership at their Convention Ward Caucus. Training sessions will all take place at our new office: 1406 Eubank Blvd NE, ABQ, NM 87112, and will be free of charge:
Thursday January 9th at 6pm
Wednesday January 15th at 2pm
Tuesday January 21st at 6pm
February 1st is the Bernalillo County Republican Pre-Primary Convention.
We're Proud to Welcome Governor Susana Martinez as Keynote Speaker!
All registered Republican voters living in Bernalillo County are welcome to attend our County Republican Pre-Primary Convention. It will take place on February 1st at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, located at 1901 University Blvd NE, ABQ 87102. Governor Susana Martinez will be our keynote speaker. Candidates for federal and statewide offices will also give speeches to all attendees. Same day registration will begin at 11am and the first part of our meeting will begin at 12pm. All business must be concluded by 6pm (but will most likely end far earlier than that, all depending on the number of attendees). Refreshments will be provided.
The purpose of the convention is to elect delegates to the New Mexico Republican State Pre-Primary Convention (on March 7th, details TBA). At the State Convention these delegates will cast their votes to put our statewide and federal Republican candidates on the 2020 Republican Primary Ballot. These delegate votes will also determine the order in which candidates appear on the primary ballot.
Pre-registration for the convention will begin on Wednesday January 1st and run through the end of our January 30th County Central Committee Meeting (details above). Pre-registration will be $42. Registration on the day of the convention will be $73. Registration can be done online at BCGOP.ORG and can be submitted via credit card. We can accept payment by check at our office, but please call ahead to ensure a volunteer will be available to accept your payment (505-226-1238). Alternatively, payment can be mailed no later than January 27th (Republican Party of Bernalillo County, P.O. Box 92422, ABQ, NM 87199). Checks can be made out to: Republican Party of Bernalillo County
Attendees must be registered Republican voters residing within Bernalillo County. We will be verifying your registration status at the time you register to attend the convention. If the most recent Bernalillo County Clerk data (as of January 20th, 2020) does not list you as a Republican residing within Bernalillo County, your registration will be revoked and your registration fee will be refunded to you by mail within 30 days.
Attendees of the County Pre-Primary Convention will vote amongst themselves to see which of them will become delegates to the State Pre-Primary Convention.
If you become a delegate you do NOT have to attend the State Pre-Primary Convention, and you may instead give your proxy vote to another delegate attending the state convention.
